ASUS ZenFone Zoom S launched in India

ASUS has launched its ZenFone Zoom S smartphone in India. The phone is priced at INR 26,999 ($420) and will be available exclusively on Flipkart.

The ASUS ZenFone Zoom S (also known as the ZenFone 3 Zoom elsewhere) is the second model in the ZenFone Zoom line. Unlike the first model that featured a large and bulky optical zoom mechanism, the ZenFone Zoom S instead features a dual camera system similar to the iPhone 7 Plus.

The primary camera in this dual camera system is a 12 megapixel sensor with f1.7 aperture and 25mm wide angle lens. The second camera is also a 12 megapixel sensor with 59mm telephoto lens, giving it 2.3x lossless optical zoom over the primary sensor, which can be increased to 12x digitally.

The phone also has other photography features, such as ASUS Superpixel technology to boost light sensitivity by 4x in low light situations, ASUS TriTech+ focus consisting of traditional contrast detection, phase detection and laser autofocus systems for 0.03 second focusing, four axis OIS and three axis EIS, RGB color sensor for accurate colors, 48 megapixel Super Resolution mode that stitches four 12 megapixel images into one, 4K video recording and 13 megapixel f2.0 front camera.

The ZenFone Zoom S is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625, with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. It also has a massive 5000mAh battery, which ASUS claims offers two days of battery life.

The ZenFone Zoom S will be available in Navy Black and Glacier Silver.
