Best Buy to hold 50-hour sale to celebrate its 50th anniversary

Best Buy is gearing up to celebrate the chain’s 50th anniversary since the first store opened on August 22 in 1966 in West St. Paul, Minnesota with another name: “Sound of Music”. The store’s name was eventually changed to “Best Buy” in 1983 which remains the case today.

Best Buy has done an excellent job of creating a wonderful and consistent retail experience for customers across the US to buy anything from home theater, mobile phones with service, video games, musical instruments (for a short while in the past few years), and home appliances.

To celebrate 50 years of success, the company will be holding a 50-hour black-Friday-like sale both in-store and online. There’s a list of several deals that will be included in the sale like $150 off some MacBook Pros, $400 off a Samsung 4K TV, $180 off Beats wireless Studio headphones, and more. Check out the current list below.

The 50th anniversary sale begins today August 18 at 10PM central time and runs for 50 hours until 11:59PM on August 20.
