ASUS ZenFone Zoom S launched in India

ASUS has launched its ZenFone Zoom S smartphone in India. The phone is priced at INR 26,999 ($420) and will be available exclusively on Flipkart.

The ASUS ZenFone Zoom S (also known as the ZenFone 3 Zoom elsewhere) is the second model in the ZenFone Zoom line. Unlike the first model that featured a large and bulky optical zoom mechanism, the ZenFone Zoom S instead features a dual camera system similar to the iPhone 7 Plus.

So, here are the six new phones that Asus just launched

Asus has just announced the Zenfone 4 range at an event in Taipei, Taiwan, consisting of six smartphones. The handsets were introduced alongside the tagline “We love photo,” so, as you would expect, these devices all have a particular focus on camera tech. We’ve got specs and price details for most of the handsets, as well as some well-produced video promos for all but one of them. Here’s the lowdown on what was introduced.

Kirin 970 specs appear on Weibo

We already reported some rumors about the Kirin 970, but this one seems like the real deal. A Weibo user shared specs of the new 10nm chipset HiSilicon is preparing for the Huawei Mate 10. It should arrive on October 16, when the phone is finally unveiled.

Nokia 8 announced: its dual camera boasts Zeiss lens and OZO audio

“With the Nokia 8 – we wanted to create the ultimate tool to tell our story”. That’s what HMD told us and we think is a perfect description for this dual-eyed Finn. Any story that stars Carl Zeiss is one we’ll listen to, but let’s start at the beginning.

The Nokia 8 has a 5.3” IPS LCD display on the front with QHD resolution and a blinding 700nits of max brightness. 2.5D Gorilla Glass 5 curves into the phone’s metal shell, which is milled out of 6000 series aluminum. The phone measures 7.9mm at the thickest point and has basic resistance to the elements with an IP54 rating.

Mediatek to announce Helio P23 and Helio P30 on August 29

MediaTek started sending invites for an announcement of two new processors - the Helio P23 and the Helio P30. Details and specifications are expected to be unveiled at an event in Beijing on August 29.

Thanks to a tip we got, there are already rumors about the chipsets. The Helio P23 is going to be built on the 16 nm process and will feature an octa-core CPU. The SoC is rumored to support 2K resolution and dual camera setups. It is also expected to have Cat.7 connectivity and LPDDR4X memory.

Glass back to make iPhone 7s thicker than the iPhone 7, rumor says

As you may already know, Apple is expected to introduce three new smartphones at a special event taking place at some point in September. Aside from the new iPhone 8 (with a near-bezelless OLED screen), the company will also unveil the iPhone 7s and 7s Plus. These are to be similar to their predecessors in looks, but come with glass backs instead of aluminum (and no antenna bands in sight). That will make them (and the iPhone 8) capable of wireless charging, a first for Apple's mobile portfolio.

Now a new report claims that the iPhone 7s will be slightly thicker than the iPhone 7 because of the use of glass on its back. In fact, as the leaked schematic below shows, it will be bigger than the 7 in all dimensions.

Facebook's News Feed gets a slight redesign on mobile

Facebook constantly tweaks the content it shows in its News Feed, but today the social network has announced a different type of change coming - a redesign. It's not going to be a radical departure from what the News Feed used to look like, mind you - just added polish here and there.

All of the following certainly applies to Facebook's app for Android, since all of the screenshots the company shared are from that platform. The same redesign is probably headed to iOS as well, but there's no telling whether (or when) News Feed will look this way on your desktop. On mobile, expect these changes to roll out in the coming weeks.
