OPPO phones will soon be able to fully charge in 15 minutes with Super VOOC tech



As device slimness and elegance remains a key focus area for many of today’s industry-leading smartphone manufacturers, the easiest way to improve battery life to a substantial extent is probably keep reducing charging times rather than pointlessly try to increase cell capacity.



In case you filed OPPO’s pre-MWC “world-wowing” teaser under empty marketing propaganda, the fast-rising Chinese OEM is now here to prove you completely wrong, taking the wraps off its new Super VOOC Flash Charge standard in Barcelona.


This is obviously a continuation of the VOOC Flash Charge technology that was initially launched commercially in March 2014 after roughly three years of R&D, and the “Super” part refers to its upgraded ability of fully juicing up a 2,500 mAh-equipped phone in a measly 15 minutes.

Don’t even have that quarter of hour to waste? Fret not, as future OPPO handhelds will be able to support talk times of around two hours after only five minutes spent connected to a power outlet.

In comparison, devices compatible with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0 tech can merely promise 60 percent capacity after half an hour of charging, and even the new Quick Charge 3.0 standard provides 80 percent life in 35 minutes to a 2,750 mAh battery.

Entirely safe to use and relying on an innovative new low-voltage pulse-charge system, as well as a customized battery, OPPO’s Super VOOC Flash Charge technology will come with redesigned, “premium” and “reliable” accessories, including adapters, cables and connectors, made from strong, military-grade materials. Unfortunately, we don’t have an ETA to share at the moment, but hopefully, the Find 9 shall adopt it before long.
